When I began my career in carpentry, a series of stairs seemed like a complex and demanding task. We are not finished oak, curved or spiral staircases. I am talking about your normal run straight carpet covered stairs or porch and deck chairs stairs.
My first staircase building experience has kind of the mystery of it. I do not have much work to do to determine, since it was a replacement deck offer. All I did was save the old Stringer from the demonstration of the old deck. It all started a meaning for me. As the staircase, the width of the treads, and how much was each step has been less of a mystery to me.
Anyone with the courage to assume this task need only patience, basic math, a framing square and the ability to back and look at the big picture.
The first thing I look at, how much it is, is to the top of the landing or deck climb the stairs. A comfortable step in the 7 to 8-inch range. Against this background, I share the height of the landing of seven. If the amount of land is 70 ", then it takes 10 to rise to the top of the landing. I have 70 " to simplify this example. Ninety-nine times out there will be 7 hundred and some odd " breakthrough. For example, if the level was 73 1 / 2 ", the rise would be 7 1 / 2 ".
When building stairs there is always less than tread Is there wearing belts. In this case, with 10 risers, which means there are 9 treads. While cutting my Stringer, I want to cut my treads 10 " long. In this dimension I can use a 2x12 for treads ripping it without a closer width. This gives me an overhang or overhang of 1 1 / 4 ". It also makes it easier to find out how much space the stairs. In this case treads 9 X 10 = " 90 ". The entire print run of the stairs is 90 ".
An example of how easily these works are stairs, go from the 1st On the 2nd Floor Floor of a house with eight foot ceiling. This takes 14 risers on 7 and 5 / 8 inch (I have shortened, as many of them it is always embedded in my eyes). That means there are 13 stripes run. Thirteen is ten times 130 ". I always open my stairway 120 ". In this way, the 10 " Stringer (a full tread) sit on the patio or concrete floor. He also leaves plenty of room for the stairs down, if there is a basement. The same is also opening up (120 ") have also enough headroom.
This can seem like an overwhelming project. As with any other project, if you take the time and patience and a little thought, you can acquire the ability.
